A Quest for Heroes revolves around the epic coming of age story of one special boy, a 14 year old from a small village on the outskirts of the Kingdom of the Ring. No heroes were ever better trained than those whose childhood and youth had been spent with Chiron the king-centaur. He made them more swift of foot than any other of the children of men. He made them stronger and more ready with the spear and bow. Jason was trained by Chiron as Heracles just before him had been trained, and as Achilles was to.

A MARCH OF KINGS is book #2 in the bestselling 17 book series THE SORCERER’S RING–which begins with A QUEST OF HEROES (Book #1 )–a FREE download!

A MARCH OF KINGS takes us one step further on Thor’s epic journey into manhood, as he begins to realize more about who he is, what his powers are, and as he embarks to become a warrior.

After he escapes from the dungeon, Thor is horrified to learn of another assassination attempt on King MacGil. When MacGil dies, the kingdom is set into turmoil. As everyone vies for the throne, King’s Court is more rife than ever with its family dramas, power struggles, ambitions, jealousy, violence and betrayal. An heir must be chosen from among the children, and the ancient Dynasty Sword, the source of all their power, will have a chance to be wielded by someone new. But all this might be upended: the murder weapon is recovered, and the noose tightens on finding the assassin. Simultaneously, the MacGils face a new threat by the McClouds, who are set to attack again from within the Ring.

Thor fights to win back Gwendolyn’s love, but there may not be time: he is told to pack up, to prepare with his brothers in arms for The Hundred, a hundred grueling days of hell that all Legion members must survive. The Legion will have to cross the Canyon, beyond the protection of the Ring, into the Wilds, and set sail across the Tartuvian Sea for the Isle of Mist, said to be patrolled by a dragon, for their initiation into manhood.

Will they make it back? Will the Ring survive in their absence? And will Thor finally learn the secret of his destiny?

With its sophisticated world-building and characterization, A MARCH OF KINGS is an epic tale of friends and lovers, of rivals and suitors, of knights and dragons, of intrigues and political machinations, of coming of age, of broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is a tale of honor and courage, of fate and destiny, of sorcery. It is a fantasy that brings us into a world we will never forget, and which will appeal to all ages and genders.

Mystara Collector”s Guide

by Echohawk

Welcome to the Mystara Collector”s Guide!

This is one of a series of Echohawk”s D&D Collector”s Guides, each of which aims to provide a comprehensive guide to D&D products published for a particular setting or era of the game. This Collector”s Guide looks at Mystara, the world of the Dungeons & Dragons game before there was an “Advanced” D&D. Somewhat ironically, despite the extensive line of BECMI products with which it is closely associated, the setting did not have an official name until the late 80s. For most of the setting’s history, it was simply the Known World. Indeed, the earliest products in the D&D line didn”t really have a setting, other than was described in the popular Gazetteers (from 1987 onward), and were assumed to be located in or near the Known World region described in the Expert Set.

For this Collector”s Guide, the 1977 Basic Set has been taken as a starting point, and all the D&D products released during the Basic, Expert, Companion, Master and Immortal (BECMI) series era have been included, even if some of those products aren”t explicitly set in Mystara. The later Challenger and Red Steel lines are also part of this guide, since those are set in Mystara.

Acknowledgments are due to a number of sources. David Keyser”s Mystara product list on the Vaults of Pandius was useful for checking the main list of Mystara game products, as was Ciro Alessandro Sacco”s book, Hunters of Dragons: The Original Dungeons & Dragons Collecting Guide. For the Collector”s Guides dealing with the early history of D&D, both The Acaeum and the Tome of Treasures were critical resources. Both site are recommended for anyone who takes their D&D collecting seriously. The Acaeum, in particular, contains a wealth of information on the various printings of early products, which is a level of detail beyond the scope of this Guide.

This was the fifteenth installment when the Collector”s Guides were initially published. The original thread for this Collector”s Guide is here.
